This calendar contains a wide variety of events across the DFW Metroplex for all ages and interests. We hope you will use it as your central hub for planning your stay in DFW if you have travelled to view the Total Solar Eclipse or if you are a resident seeking to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

While the majority of the events are scheduled during the weekend before the Total Eclipse, others are programmed in the months leading up to the April 8, 2024 celestial event. Learn more about the Total Eclipse DFW here.

Event options include learning opportunities to help you and your family understand what happens during the Total Solar Eclipse, how to prepare and most importantly, how to protect your eyes during the lead up to and the aftermath of the period of totality.

Other events include music, arts, sports, celebrations, museums, businesses, food, local entertainment, tours and many others.

Total Eclipse DFW invited groups with events to upload the information to our site as a service to the community. We provided the calendar only and are not liable for users’ experience with these organizations or events. By using the calendar on this website, you take full responsibility for your own dealings with the event organizers and posters.

With this understanding in place, we suggest you check back regularly to see additional events that have been posted. We expect the calendar to be updated more frequently by the community as the Total Solar Eclipse nears!

Space Walk: Music And Solar Eclipse Viewing – The Colony, Texas

THE IDEA

In 2007, a group of friends had an idea to put on a rock concert that would be centered around the total solar eclipse of 2017. Charlie Lotspeich has been writing the music and storyline while collaborating with other musicians over the years to develop this performance. He calls it: Space Walk.

On August 21st, 2017 North America experienced a total solar eclipse. There had not been a solar event like this, that touched the North American mainland, since the 1970’s. The first concert was held in Kilgore Park, Cross Plains Tennessee.

On April 8th, 2024 North America will experience another total solar eclipse. This time the event will be traveling through a different portion of the country. To experience a full total solar eclipse you must be within the path of totality (check it out! Path of Totality ). If your location does not fall within this path you will only be able to see a partial eclipse.

This event is still a work in progress but we know that it will be held in the North Texas area with a minimum eclipse time of 2:00. It will be open to the public where guests can check out science exhibits that focus on solar eclipses and their history as well as a gallery of art based on the music of Space Walk. The main feature of this event will be a progressive rock performance of Space Walk by the band “Girls on Bikes”.

The storyline that follows the music of Space Walk is featured below.

If you are interested in attending the event, please keep up with our website for details leading up to the event. Worried that you won’t be able to make it? This performance will be live-streamed through our Facebook page. This will be the best way to view the eclipse without actually being there!
