This calendar contains a wide variety of events across the DFW Metroplex for all ages and interests. We hope you will use it as your central hub for planning your stay in DFW if you have travelled to view the Total Solar Eclipse or if you are a resident seeking to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
While the majority of the events are scheduled during the weekend before the Total Eclipse, others are programmed in the months leading up to the April 8, 2024 celestial event. Learn more about the Total Eclipse DFW here.
Event options include learning opportunities to help you and your family understand what happens during the Total Solar Eclipse, how to prepare and most importantly, how to protect your eyes during the lead up to and the aftermath of the period of totality.

At our Women Rising Wild Initiation Retreat in Glen Rose, Texas, April 6-9, 2024, you will experience the solar eclipse in the path of totality while we attune to the brilliance of our own true nature through sacred community living and outdoor immersion at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and nearby natural areas. Witness firsthand the charge of creative energy and wild intelligence boldly alive in the bodies of the plants and animals we encounter. Then, with attention on this mirror to your potential and the support of our facilitators we journey into the wild landscape of the feminine soul where we will uncover the knowledge of who we each are and birth some of the unique, untethered medicine gifts of our true belonging. An eco-stewardship seva project and conscious sisterhood on the land invite us into an intimate co-embodiment of love in a conscious relationship with each other and the more-than-human world.

Meet in Glen Rose at 2 pm on Saturday for the caravan to our retreat site nearby. Our time together concludes at 11 am on Tuesday. We will remain onsite throughout the retreat. Late arrivals and early departures may be permitted with pre-approval.
Location in Texas:
Our April 2024 Total Solar Eclipse Women Rising Wild in Glen Rose, Texas takes place on a private ranch and sanctuary and in collaboration with Fossil Rim Wildlife Conservation Center. This rolling and rugged Cross Timbers landscape on the Osage Plains of Texas is home to massive pecan trees, old oak woods, and sacred cedar grasslands. The retreat site is approximately 90 minutes from Dallas and two and a half hours from Austin. Houston to Glen Rose is four hours by car. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is the closest major airport serving the region. Carpooling is encouraged when possible to minimize our carbon footprint. Specific details and driving directions will be provided to participants after registering for the event.
Driving or flying in from out of state or other parts of Texas? We have caravans forming from Denver, Dallas, Houston, and Austin. Flights into Dallas are quickly disappearing. Fly into Denver or Austin and ride-share with local women to our event in Glen Rose. Contact us to discuss options.

Meet our Founder and Visionary for Women Rising Wild:
Melissa Lynn Reed is the visionary for Women Rising Wild and the founder of Wild Heart Revival, LLC. She is a fourth-generation healer and transformational wilderness guide. Melissa holds a BA and MS in ecology and she is presently pursuing her doctorate in psychology with a focus on consciousness and spiritual studies. Melissa has over 25 years of experience as a wildlife biologist specializing in studies of rare and endangered mammals.
Melissa is a seasoned tracker, medicine weaver, yogini, and mystic with deep and intimate ties with nature. She has led more than 200 nature-based workshops and guided more than 80 multi-day science and adventure retreats for more than 2000 adults and children. In 2023 Melissa hosted her 20th transformational Women Rising Wild wilderness retreat.
